Move 1 Mesa is a citywide collaboration with the non-profit, Move One Million, that focuses on moving Mesa residents forward, together, by prioritizing physical and mental health and creating a kinder more service-centered community.
Mesa Public Schools, City of Mesa, Mesa Public Schools Foundation and the Mesa Chamber of Commerce have united with Chris Powell's non-profit, Move One Million, to use movement as a vehicle to bring the community together and focus on priorities that will make Mesa stronger, healthier and more united post the pandemic.
Move 1 Mesa Priorities
Priority 1 Physical Health
Physical health has become front and center this last year. From fighting disease to improving mental health, movement is life. Join world renowned health expert, Chris Powell, and millions of people from across the world and begin moving just 2.5 minutes a day with the Move One Million initiative.
In addition to M1M, you can find other PHYSICAL HEALTH resources that will get you up and moving towards a healthier and happier life.
Priority 2 Mental Health
Mental health is a state of well being where individuals realize their own abilities and can cope with life and work and productively contribute to the community. The pandemic has created an environment counterproductive to that. Focusing on mental health and providing strategies and resources for people who are struggling will create stronger minds and in turn create a stronger community. Priority 3 #MesaKindness
One of the simplest ways to improve one’s mental health and contribute to his/her community in a positive way is by being kind. According to the Mayo Clinic, kindness has been proven to increase a person's self-esteem, empathy and compassion, which in turn improves a person's mood.
Move 1 Mesa focuses on the power of 1. If 1 person could do something kind for someone else everyday, imagine how much impact that would have in the Mesa community.
Priority 4 Community Service
The Mesa community has a rich history of coming together to help support the city's most vulnerable. From serving students who need glasses or shoes to ensuring the homeless have a warm meal and bed, the heart of Mesa is in how community members serve one another.
There are many opportunities for people to become involved in community based organizations. To learn more about the Mesa Public Schools Foundation, A New Leaf, Mesa United Way and others, click here.
