Mental Health

Mental health is a state of well being where individuals realize their own abilities and can cope with life and work and productively contribute to the community. The pandemic has created an environment counterproductive to that. Focusing on mental health and providing strategies and resources for people who are struggling will create stronger minds and in turn create a stronger community.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a type of meditation that focuses on being intensely aware of what you're feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgement. Practicing mindfulness involves breathing methods, guided imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind and help reduce stress (Mayo Clinic).

According to the Centre of Mindfulness Studies, mindfulness has a positive impact in many areas of mental health, which include stress reduction, emotion and attention regulation and reduction in moderate depression and anxiety (Mindful.org).
